What Stops you from Saving?

what stops you from saving blog josh-appel-NeTPASr-bmQ-unsplash.jpg

When my client came in to see me, she actually felt great about her job. She had recently started a new position after 3 difficult years in the wrong job. She felt great about the role she was in and her new team. However, she was embarrassed to even admit, despite making a great salary, she had no savings and credit card debt. She had a lot of stress around money, it was constant in the background that she always worried about.

After discussing this, I uncovered a lot of shame and she was really beating herself up. I gave her some exercises to clear her shame and feel the relief she would have if she had 3 months of savings in the bank. As a result, I could see her face brighten as we went along.

After clearing those emotional triggers, we were able to come up with a budget that she felt she could stick to. While she has just started saving, she easily met her first month budget and can now look forward checking her bank balance, rather than dreading receiving statements in the post.‍

How do you feel about the level of savings you have?  Do you have any beliefs about money that prevent you from having as much saved as you want?

Contact me via the contact form or email to amy@amyaho.com if you would like to discuss how I can help you change your beliefs around money.
